Per was the Aesir king before Sverin. He is also known as Per the Red and left the Winderost when he was still king.

InformationEdit

DescriptionEdit

A red gryfon with golden eyes.

PersonalityEdit

Per was a mighty, albeit arrogant and vain, ruler before and after he left the Winderost. He showed no affection towards his son and instead praise his subjects; this could possibly be why Sverin didn't become a warrior until after The Conquering. According to Caj, the reason why Sverin had always received this scorn was so that Per could control him. Per also had no qualms going after the Vanir's kits During the Conquering, and wouldn't have hesitated to slaughter Rashard if Sigrun hadn't begged him to spare him.

RoleEdit

The king of the Winderost, the one who conquered the Vanir, and predecessor of Sverin.

HistoryEdit

Entire HistoryEdit

Per's History

Per was born to Kajar and grew up in the Winderost. Not much is known about his kithood. Later, he mated with the gryfess Var and they had their son Sverin. About fifteen years later, Sverin begged Per to flee from the Winderost so that Kjorn didn't have to grow up knowing the nightmare: the Wyrms of the Winderost. After conquering the Vanir, Per slayed thier king Baldr, had his warriors kill the mates and kits of females, but spared Rashard due to Sigrun's pleading. It is unknown when he died, but it was possibly a year or two after the Aesir conquered the Silver Isles.

In The Summer King Chronicles ArcEdit

SkyfireEdit

Per does not appear in Skyfire, but is mentioned when Rashard flies over the sea when he wonders what the Aesir fled from, and what they ate.

A Shard of SunEdit

Per appears when Shard is drowning in the Sunland. He is shown laughing.

By the Silver WindEdit

Per does not appear in By the Silver Wind, but is mentioned when Rashard and his band of Vanir and Aesir gryfons fly across the great sea back to the Silver Isles.

TriviaEdit

  • Had he never left the Winderost, many of the events in the book wouldn't have happened. Sigrun and Stigr might of been mates and had kits, Rashard wouldn't have met Brynja, Baldr wouldn't have died, and Kjorn and Shard wouldn't of been wingbrothers.
  • The nickname Per the Red is most likely a reference to Erik the Red, a viking explorer that first landed in Greenland.
  • Per is the Scandinavian variant of Peter, which means "rock".
