((Not to be confused with Song of the Summer King))

The Song of the Summer King drives that main plot line of the book series. It's an ancient song, describing a King that will rise amid darkness to bring peace. It is first heard in the first book, where Ragna sings the song, 'calling' to her son, Rashard, to rise and become the Summer King. After she sings the song, Sverin, desperate to calm the restless Vanir, falsely names his son, Kjorn, the Summer King. After hearing that Sverin named Kjorn, Catori and Stigr are confused and infuriated.

The Song is know across the land of the Winderost, Sunland, and Silver Isles. The Wolves know the Summer King as the Star King, and the dragons of the Sunalnd are doubtful that Shard is the Summer King, saying 'The Song suggests something greater'.

The Song Lyrics Edit

One will rise higher,

One will see father,

His wing beats will part the storm.

They will call him the summer king

And this will be his song.

He sees all like sky

His heart burns like the sun

He brings justice to the wronged.

They will call him the Summer King

And this will be his song.

He flies in the night

And in the day

And his wings are like light on water.

He listens to all who speak, speaks to all who hear

And his voice is the song of summer.

He comes when he is needed

He comes when he is called

He is called the Summer King, and this is his song.

He is borne aloft by the Silver Wind

He alone flies the highest peak,

And when they hear his song at battle's end

The Nameless shall know themselves

And the Voiceless will once again speak.

He comes when he is needed

He comes when he is called

He is called the Summer King and this will be his song.
